Marcus Sackett, son of Colonel Niram Sackett and Catherine Thorn, was born in Irving, Chautauqua County, New York StateG, on 28 November 18301,2 and died aged 79 at Hanover, Chautauqua CountyG, on 19 June 1910.3 He married first in New York CityG on 16 June 1857, Henrietta Seaman, daughter of John N Seaman and Sarah A Mott.4 Henrietta died on 13 April 1876.5 He married second at Winnebago, IllinoisG, on 21 August 1877, Susan Marguerite (Grand Girard) Sloane, daughter of Philip Grand Girard and Catherine Ploncon, and widow of Rev S P Sloane.6,7 (An announcement in the New York Evening Post of 24 August 1877 states that the marriage took place at 286 Sackett Street [Brooklyn] on 22 August.) Susan was born in Cincinnati, OhioG, on 15 March 18378 and died aged 46 in Buffalo, New York StateG, in March 1883.9 He married third Nancy (Sloan) Ainsworth, daughter of James Sloan and Nancy Pangbourn, and widow of Joel Ainsworth.
Marcus Sackett was born at La Grange (now Irving), was educated at Fredonia Academy and at Albany Law School; was admitted to the bar at Albany in February, 1852; practiced law in Buffalo until 1861, went to New York City and there practiced from 1861 to 1881, when he gave up practice and moved to Buffalo. In 1884 he purchased what is now known as the Maple Lawn Farm, at Silver Creek, Chautauqua County, N. Y., on which he was residing in 1905.
