Erastus Sacket Jr, son of Erastus Sacket and Elizabeth Leonard, was born in Springfield, Hampden County, MassachusettsG, on 29 July 17501,2 and baptized at the Church of Christ, Westfield, Hampden CountyG, on 9 September 1750.3 He died aged 88 in Pittsfield, Berkshire County, MassachusettsG, on 28 September 18384,5 and was buried at Terrace Grove, Pittsfield CemeteryG.5 He married Sarah ___. Sarah was born in 1758.6 She died in PittsfieldG on 30 April 18335 and was buried in Terrace Grove, Pittsfield CemeteryG.
     Erastus served in the American Revolutionary War.5
     Erastus was included in a 1786 census of Pittsfield householders; his father Erastus was also listed.7
     In 1790 Erastus was living in Pittsfield, Berkshire County, MassachusettsG. In his household were one man and six females, presumably his wife Sarah and five of their daughters.8
     Erastus was listed in the census in 1800, 1810, 1820, and 1830 as a householder in PittsfieldG.9,10,11,12
     Erastus and his brother Solomon were founder members, with 24 other townsmen, of the Berkshire Cattle Show, held in the Square in the Village of PittsfieldG for the first time on 1 October 1810 when "farmers in this County and its vicinity" were "respectfully invited to attend this first exhibition, from nine to three of the clock, with bulls, oxen, steers, and other neat cattle, Merino sheep of the different grades, as well as other improved breeds, hogs or swine of different breeds, and such useful animals as they may think proper" in the hope that "this essay will lead to permanent annual cattle shows, and that an incorporated Agricultural Society will emanate from these meetings."13
     Erastus was appointed joint administrator, with his daughter Beulah, of the estate of Beulah's husband Jonathan Davis who died intestate in Otsego County, New York, in about 1811.14
